school's in for the summer.

hi! i should probably tell ya'll about the school since i've been here a week now (the "ya'll" was just a little joke there...)

so, here are the stats:

there are 50 students at the school here, all living together at the base, split up into 3 separate courses. there are 20 in my course representing 11 different countries. i share a room with 5 other girls and we come from 5 different countries. america, australia, newzealand, switzerland & korea. it's a great group of girls - i don't think you could get a more versatile mix of personalities. (they mostly call me 'sydney' or 'australia' around here... i doubt half of them actually know my name)

our daily timetable includes meals, quiet time, worship, 4 classes, work duties, local outreaches, small group time and free time. they like to pack a lot in here.

weekends are pretty much free, just as long as we go to church sometime on sunday. we've started a sunday-night-bowling-for-75c tradition, which is fun for everyone except me who has come last in every game i've played so far... there are just some things in life i will never ever be good at.

last night we went on our first local outreach, which was serving coffee at a coffee house in downtown denver. it was a crash pad for homeless people, so we spent most of the time having crazy conversations with the people, playing scrabble and wading through the cigarette smoke. i spoke for about an hour with a guy who became a christian after finding out he was diagnosed with aids... very intense.

so, the times a good. i am very excited about the things that god is going to do while i am here.. i can't believe it has only been 10 days, it feels like i have known these people for years and learnt so much already!
